Hi, I’m Jenny.
Every year, I sit on the floor of my mom’s bedroom and pull out her big blue bag of old camcorder tapes that highlight the celebrations of my childhood.
There’s my sister’s 7th birthday in the backyard: the inflatable yellow pool on the driveway, empty pizza boxes stacked in the trash, my grandma bouncing my very naked twin brother on her lap. There’s the Christmas we opened presents in my parents’ bed because the furnace broke and it was 50 degrees in the house. Actually, there are about 15 different Christmas days documented and every single one includes my family’s annual rendition of “The 12 Days of Christmas.” I’ll spare your ears.
I love watching the videos not because they’re perfect, but because they’re full of joy, connection, and love. They remind me that the magic of an event isn’t in the centerpieces or the seating chart… it’s in the people, the laughter, the little in-between moments you didn’t expect but never want to forget.
That’s what I hold onto when I plan and what I want you to feel on your day. So years from now, when you’re watching your own footage (maybe on a tiny camcorder screen, maybe sitting beside your grandkids), you don’t just see a beautiful day. You feel it.
Because trends fade. But meaning lasts.
The Q&A you didn’t ask for.
How did you get into wedding planning?
I used to be an elementary school teacher, so staying calm in chaos has quite literally always been part of the job.
I’ve been a day-of coordinator at my home base, Walden, for a little over two years now. Truthfully, I went into it looking for a side hustle—but it quickly became something I loved. Now I can’t imagine my life without it (like what would I even do every weekend…get a hobby?)
What’s your favorite part of a wedding day?
My favorite part of the day is also, ironically, my least favorite. It’s the window of time between the final touches of hair and makeup and the moment the couple sees each other for the first time. It’s when the emotions start showing up in little ways:
A mother’s breath catching as she zips her daughter into her dress.
A sister kneeling to buckle her sibling’s shoes.
A bridal party walking their friend toward forever.
A father’s eyes welling with tears during the first look.
A groom shifting his weight, straightening his tie, taking another deep breath.
It’s beautiful. It’s chaotic. It’s everything a wedding day is about. But behind the scenes? My palms are usually sweating… because transportation’s pulling up. Boutonnieres need pinning. Day-of bags need packing. And every step has to be timed just right so no one sees each other too soon. It’s a dance of logistics and love.
What’s one thing that always makes you smile?
This is Sev: Destroyer of tennis balls. Arch-nemesis of the black dog across the courtyard. Lover of bananas, tortilla chips, bell peppers, rotisserie chicken, and watermelon (yes, there’s a theme here). Devoted fan of Costco-sized toys. Hater of nail clippings.
And most importantly… his mom’s ride or die.
